Vitamin Angel Alliance to Distribute 50% of the Supplements
Ojai, CA – Vitamin Relief USA™ (VRUSA) gratefully accepted a donation of 100,000 bottles of children’s chewable multi-vitamin/mineral supplements from Tishcon Corp. Other companies donating the necessary components and ingredients to make the 100,000 bottles include Ampak, Bruchem, DSM Nutritional, Flavor Savor, Lanco York, Mini Graphics, P.I.L., Package All, Particle Dynamics and Tim Plastics. Tishcon’s contribution to hurricane relief is in addition to the over eight million children’s chewables that it annually donates to VRUSA for needy, homeless and poor children in the U.S. “This is an extraordinary display of corporate generosity, and, on behalf of the young victims of Katrina and Rita, we deeply thank our friends at Tishcon Corp. as well as all the companies who have contributed to our relief effort,” says Michael Morton, Executive Director of VRUSA.
VRUSA’s distribution partners serving hurricane victims such as Ruleville Elementary in Mississippi are receiving the supplements. Principal Bessie Gardner urgently requested multivitamins for the many young evacuees pouring into her community to help the children fight off illness and handle the stress and trauma that they face. In addition, tens of thousands of bottles will be distributed in Mississippi through the Red Cross, as well as a large network of churches and Head Start programs. A substantial portion of the vitamin donation will go to Gateway to Care, a network of 17 medical clinics to provide nutritional support for the thousands of young evacuees still in Houston, TX.
The 50,000 bottles earmarked for Vitamin Angel Alliance provides an opportunity to VRUSA and Vitamin Angels to give form to their commitment to work together to reach those most in need. Vitamin Angels will be distributing the vitamins through their Angleton, Texas warehouse to distribution points throughout the Gulf States. In the past month Vitamin Angels has been distributing supplements through the FEMA Specialty Needs Centers, EMS (Emergency Medical Services) in Louisiana, and distribution centers in Houston, Texas; Baton Rouge and Slidell, Louisiana; and Pearl and Jackson, Mississippi.
