Antioxidants and Cancer: Researcher admits she got it wrong
It was news when it was first revealed three years ago - and it was news again last week: antioxidant vitamins can speed up the development of cancer. But the researcher who first published the study has now admitted that she got it wrong. The researchers, led by Isabelle Bairati from the Quebec Research Centre, who published the 2005 study, have re-analysed their original data, and have discovered they got it wrong. The only people in the study who were seeing their cancer return were smokers who refused to kick the habit while they were receiving radiation therapy or chemotherapy. View more
Parkinson's: Pesticides found to be a major cause Pesticides may be a direct cause of Parkinson's disease, a new study has found. As a result, farmers and people living on farms who are regularly exposed to the chemicals may be at greater risk than people in the general population. Herbicides and insecticides - and especially those that contain organochlorine and organophosphorous compounds - 'significantly' increase the risk of Parkinson's, the researchers said. View more
Rosemary and Herbs Can Help Fight Cancer
A recent USDA study revealed that many popular herbs are a great source of natural antioxidants--compounds that help neutralize free radicals--more so than those reported for berries, fruits and vegetables. Research has shown that rosemary can help prevent cancer and age-related skin damage. The two key ingredients in Rosemary--caffeic acid and rosemarinic acid--are potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents, which help protect the body's cells from damage by free radicals. Peak Vitality - "Mastering Your Cells" - Bruce Lipton
Cell biologist, Dr. Bruce Lipton teaches us the secret to love, health, and prosperity. In his chapter in Peak Vitality: Raising the Threshold of Abundance in Our Material, Spiritual and Emotional Lives, Lipton writes: "Learning how to harness our minds to promote growth is the secret of life, which is why I refer to the new science as The Biology of Belief. As we become more conscious and rely less on subconscious automated programs, we become the masters of our fates rather than the 'victim' of our programs. In this way we can rewrite old, limiting perceptions and actively transform the character of our lives so that they are filled with the love, health, and prosperity that are our true birthrights. Brain Balance a Natural Remedy for Depression
Brain Balance is a unique formula designed to ensure the proper levels and balance of the neurotransmitters in the brain - resulting in reduced anxiety, elevated mood, and improved focus and concentration.
Most antidepressant medications - and herbs like St. Johns Wort - move neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine out of the pre-synaptic neuron and into the synapse. It’s important to understand that they do not add any molecules of serotonin to the brain’s supply.
Brain Balance gives your brain the raw materials it needs to actually make more serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, and GABA. View More

What Doctors Don't Tell You - "Low-Down on Low-Fat Milk"
For years, low-fat cow's milk has been enthusiastically promoted as the perfect health drink, providing adults with 'essential' vitamins and minerals, but without the so-called heart-unhealthy fat found in whole milk. However, new research suggests that low-fat milk could actually be doing us more harm than good, increasing the risk of serious health problems-from infertility to prostate cancer. Worse, scientists hypothesize that stripping the fat from milk-to make the drink supposedly healthier-could be the very reason for its toxic effects.

Integrator Blog - "Pamela Snider on How Integration is a Balance of Accountability and Soul"
Few people in what was "alternative medicine" are very comfortable with the idea of becoming more "integrated" into the broken and often misdirected disease-based dominant school of medicine. Yet inclusion is alluring, for service and income reasons. Long-time integrative care leader Pamela Snider, ND talks about the balance of "accountability and soul" in the advance of the integration process. View more

Improving Your Bedside Manner by Jacquelyn Small
In Improving Your Bedside Manner: A Handbook for Physicians to Develop Therapeutic Conversations with their Patients, Jacquelyn Small
Immensely thoughtful, practical, and succinctly organized, each chapter offers provocative, reflective examples of how physicians can communicate better with patients as well as improve their own self awareness. The book is helpfully divided into 10 chapters, each of which provides a definition of a specific professional communication skill, background about a professional characteristic, and provides model and toxic examples of how sensitive, critical clinical conversations take place. "Any healthcare professional who aspires to become a healer instead of a mere technician should read this book." Larry Dossey, MD

The Role of the Teacher - Philip Goldberg, Ph.D.
Last month, my first and most important spiritual teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, passed away. It had been many years since I’d seen him, and the event made me think back to the long hours I spent learning from him and the honor of being made a teacher in his lineage. Despite his great wisdom and unfailing compassion, Maharishi was capable of human foibles. At one time that realization had been disillusioning, but now, with the benefit of maturity and reflection, it made me even more grateful for all that he contributed to my life, and to the world. In any event, his passing made me reflect on the ambiguous role of authority figures on the spiritual path.
