This bill is seen as an important breakthrough in the struggle for health freedom.
Scientist Says Your Chi Is Key To Optimum Health
The work of Russian physicist Yury Kronn is the link that binds science
with the mysticism of the energy force the Chinese call chi. He is
combining this philosophy of chi with quantum physics principles and
translating these laws into the language of modern science.
Vitamin Deficiency May Cause Depression
Just in case you weren't convinced, doctors now have new evidence that
vitamins are good preventative medicine. A recent study of women aged
65 years and older showed a correlation between low vitamin B12 levels
and depression.

Dr. Galland's Integrated
Medicine
Dr. Leo Galland, author of "Power Healing," combines his personal
research and an analysis of recent developments in medical research to
enable you to learn how to heal yourself, and preventing or reversing
chronic illness with the techniques of Integrated Medicine. In the
column "What is Integrated Medicine?" Dr. Galland addresses conventional
western medicine, alternative medical systems, and the importance of
including dietary, environmental or social conditions.
The Healer
Within
The traditional systems of medicine from the Asian cultures have always
had some type of massage stimulation to the ears. When you work on your
ears you will notice that within 4-5 minutes of vigorous massage your
ears get hot - caused by the increase of blood flow to that area. The
Chinese say, "When the blood is increased to an area the Energy (Qi) is
increased to that area as well." Because the ears are heavily enervated,
the combination of the presence of the nerves, the effect of the
pressure and the heightened circulation causes stimulation to the
reflexes of the Microsystems of the ear, notes Dr. Roger Jahnke in the
column, "Self-Applied Massage of the Ears." Through this reflex
Microsystems all parts of the body can be influenced through pressure
massage to the ear.
Mind Over Matter
While some people tend to live in the past, others seem to consume every
waking moment worrying about the future. Rarely do we live fully in the
present. In the column "The Carpenter's Lesson: building your future
with pride" Barry Bittman, M.D. shares a story that offers a simple yet
important inspirational perspective for rethinking our lives.
Natural Medicine Research
Does exercise have a deleterious effect on joint cartilage or spinal
disks? Several epidemiological studies have shown that certain athletic
activities such as gymnastics, weightlifting, and soccer may lead to
acceleration of spine degeneration. In this column, "Exercise and Disk
Degeneration," Dr. Ray Sahelian questions whether non-athletes who
exercise recreationally also risk cartilage or disk degeneration.
Researchers from Finland investigated the effects of endurance exercise
and power sports on disk degeneration in monozygotic male twins with
contrasting lifetime exercise histories found that recreational exercise
does not seem to pose any problems in relation to disk degeneration.
Understanding Homeopathy
It is sometimes difficult, literally and figuratively, to stomach gas,
heartburn, and indigestion pains. Although we may want to curse at our
digestive tract, the fact of the matter is that our digestive symptoms
are actually defenses of the body in its best efforts to defend and heal
ourselves. In the column "Homeopathic Medicines For Indigestion, Gas,
And Heartburn: Natural Remedies You Can Stomach" Dana Ullman, M.P.H.
outlines common symptoms, what they indicate, and which specific
homeopathic remedies are appropriate to consider.

Healthy Recipes
Sometimes, it's the simplest things in life that bring the most
pleasure. Danish chef Oscar Umahro Cadogan brings us one of them. "Super
Oatmeal" takes very little time to make and nourishes body, soul, and
the tastebuds. The sesame and flax seed bring extra richness to the
oatmeal and provide essential fatty acids with an almost 1 to 1 ratio of
omega-3's and omega-6's.
Healthy Travel
As the planet's tropical forests are degraded or chopped into fragments
at an increasing rate, one of the greatest challenges facing reserve
managers is calculating whether a given fragment is viable. You can be
part of a scientific research expedition counting the numbers and
species of a group of organisms to indicate the viability of a given
forest fragment in Brazil's Atlantic forest. July 2-11 join "Bees And Orchids Of Brazil" with
entomologists Drs. Athayde Tonhasca and Gilberto Albuquerque in Brazil
as they test whether the stingless male euglossine bees that pollinate
the roughly 650 orchid species and other plants that live here provide a
reliable measure of forest fragment health.
Healthy Child Update
A fever can be caused by a wide variety of things, including
dehydration, overexertion, mosquito bites, bee stings, an allergic or
toxic reaction, or a viral or bacterial infection. In the column
"Fever" Janet Zand, L.Ac., O.M.D. presents parents guidelines for
assessing their child's condition, plus explanations of the treatment
options offered by conventional and alternative medicine.
Healthy Woman Update
Women have special needs to love and be loved, to create, to express
their feelings, and to express their being. In the column "Nutritional
Program for Adult Women" Elson M. Haas, M.D. addresses women's unique
nutritional needs related to the various stages of their life cycle and
offers recommendations for appropriate diet choices.
