Nutrition - Prevent the Food Allergies in the Children
Many children have symptoms of reaction or sensibility to some foods. These "allergies" reach their climax during breast feeding, diminish in childhood, and are much less in adulthood. Milk, corn, beans, chicken, egg, soy, and fish are the most common foods involved.
A Depressed Mind Makes for an Unhealthy Heart
Previous research has demonstrated a strong connection between depression and heart disease in men, but the impact on women has not received as much attention. New research examined nearly 700 middle-aged women complaining of chest pain to determine if physical symptoms of heart disease are associated with psychological disturbances. They found that measures of depression and hostility correlated with physical risk factors for hardened arteries, such as high blood pressure, obesity and smoking.

Dr. Galland's Integrated
Medicine
The rate of cancer among American children has been rising for decades according to a story in the New York Times in September, 1997. "Although the reasons remain unclear, many experts suspect the increase may be partly the result of growing exposure to chemicals in the environment." According to the National Cancer Institute the rise in childhood cancers has been nearly 1% per year, meaning double digit increases over the last few decades. What can we do to reduce our children's exposure to toxic chemicals? There are several types of pollutants may cause Sick Home Syndrome. How can you protect your home and your children? In Living Safely in a Polluted World: Your Home Should be a Haven," Leo Galland, M.D. explains how your exposure--and your family's--can be readily controlled by a number of simple, inexpensive and potentially life-saving steps.

Keeping Fit
Aerobics refers to activities that require sustained periods of large muscle movement such as walking, running, cycling, stepping, swimming, rowing or dancing. In "What About Water Aerobics?" Wayne L. Westcott, Ph.D. introduces us to newer additions to the list of aerobic activities - water exercise programs. While working out in water is definitely different than exercising on land, it can be a more beneficial and enjoyable training experience. All movements in water require greater effort than movements on land, because water resistance is much greater than air resistance. Water exercise offers positive resistance in every direction of.
